Whether you're talking about Mesopotamian civilizations or ancient Egyptians, Greeks or Romans, beards have a very long history. In ancient times, beards were considered a symbol of wisdom. Interestingly enough, the Greeks only cut beards as a form of punishment. (Talk about a sad day in your life!) For more practical reasons, prehistoric men grew beards for warmth, intimidation and protection.

Regardless of why you grow your beard, it's clear that it deserves the utmost care and respect.

It's not a secret that the world is in no short supply of beard oils. As a matter of fact, some would say that the beard care market is oversaturated. And I could not agree more. There are hundreds of beard oils for sale on the internet. All one has to do is look up #beardoil on Instagram and you're inundated with products. I've tried a lot of them myself and I can tell you, first hand, they're not that different from each other.

My main frustration was not that I couldn't find a great product, but that I could never find a brand that matched my desire to help create a better world.

Today, global warming is more of a threat than ever. Scientists recently released a new report that states we only have 12 years to act, keeping our planet safe and avoiding a catastrophic environmental breakdown. If that doesn't light a fire under you, I don't know what else will.

So it was with love for our planet and a burdening desire to learn more about all-natural self care that led to my first experiment of creating my own beard oil. It took well over a year and a half of experimenting to determine the right recipe and it's with great pride that I share this recipe with other mindful, bearded outdoorsmen.
